Did You Learn Something New Today?

     September 14, 2016 0 Comments

Last week as I sat with my morning coffee staring out our front window I could see evidence of a new school year everywhere. Little ones sporting new backpacks excitedly running down the sidewalk, teenagers with their heads buried in their phones waiting for the bus and "first day" photos taken on front lawns indicated that a new year of learning was underway. These images had me fondly remembering those September days with my own children. Never having had the luxury of being a stay at home or work from home mom,…

Had I Known

Had I known I would leave myself….I would’ve packed lighter. Growing up we know there will come a time when we have to leave things behind. Our friends, our parents, a job perhaps…..maybe even a relationship. Never in my wildest dreams, did I ever imagine that I’d be leaving….me. I’m not quite sure when it happened, but one day I looked in the mirror and I was…..Gone! How did this happen? Where did I go? Was there one significant event r…

Dig In And Get Moving

Well "Hello Winter" and welcome.....I think ; ( I have never been a fan of snow. Not me....Nope! I would much rather have my toes buried in sand thank you, but it's here and if there is any good to come of it, it will be the exercise I reap from shovelling today. As I was pondering the thought of getting my layers on and getting outside, I couldn't help but wonder how many people might find themselves "stuck" today on our first real blast of winter. That dreaded feeling of getting stopped in your tracks and spinning your wheels. That feeling of helplessness that hits you when you realize you…

How is today going to unfold for you?

How is today going to unfold for you? How do you want to feel at the end of the day when you crawl into bed? I had that question posed to me today and it really gave me a different perspective on the type of day I was setting for myself. I don't know about you, but I was never really raised to think of my day that I had the ability to make it what I wanted it to be. Actually, I was raised to be a good girl, to get my homework done, do my chores, be a good employee, wife, mother......etc. That always seemed to be the end goal and if somewhere along the way I got something out of it…

What are your kids packing for school?

Sweet September…the return to normalcy…. or perhaps, just the closest we get to it. I remember as a child how I looked forward to returning to school! Yes, I was one of those kids who liked school and fortunate enough to have done well in it. The lazy days of summer were always welcomed but by the end of August, time off had become mundane and my older sister and I were running out of things to fight about!   I did not come from an affluent family, but the return to school always meant one new outfit, new runners (as we affectionately called them) and shiny new school supplies. No tablet…
